MOTORS

This is based on the 1998 cc diesel "Subaru Boxer Diesel in March 2008 - The first boxer diesel engine for passenger cars produced in volume, produces a maximum power of 150 hp and maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1800 and 2400 rpm ..

For 2011, Subaru Outback. This engine has several unique technical improvements and ecological characteristics of the head shape of the pistons has been changed to a wider, shallower design. This, combined with improving the flow of gas into the combustion chamber, improving combustion efficiency and reduces the production of particles. A "boost sensor" was added to the variable geometry turbocharger for more precise control of the tabs.

The glow plugs have been changed from one type of metal to a ceramic type, increasing the maximum operating temperature and ensure a better start in cold weather.

Fuel injection control is optimized and consumption has been redesigned multi-resin for air circulation to the torque characteristics and fuel consumption. Another advantage of the new resin is the weight loss of 1.5 kg in the previous version of aluminum.

A single silencer was used to optimize engine performance and noise level, while saving weight. The addition of a vibration absorbing structure in the middle of the main exhaust pipe also reduces the noise level.

Subaru Boxer Diesel is a closed diesel particulate filter (DPF), which contains a filter to form a honeycomb of silicon carbide. DPF, which is low and turbocharger to keep the car a low center of gravity, improving combustion engine efficiency and reducing exhaust gas particles to promote environmental friendliness.

And finally, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooling has been expanded to improve the system efficiency of 12% - to reduce NOx emissions, so that the new Outback is in compliance with Euro 5 exhaust gas .

TRANSMISSION

standard transmission for the model 2.0-liter diesel unit is a new six-speed manual. This compact transmission is the same length as the previous five-speed section and weighs only five pounds heavier.

The improvements also include a new transmission cable and a cradle-like carbon to the first and second, the constant reverse synchronization of activity to improve the way you feel, and lubrication of the roads optimized for losses drag reduction. The Most comprehensive coverage of the unit, six-speed offers better fuel economy, better handling and greater comfort to higher speeds.

AWD "symmetrical" - Subaru

Subaru Outback contains the latest version of Subaru Symmetrical AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) system with a new model of the benefits of traction that you know the brand for you.

It is an evolution of the original Subaru AWD system full time, which has proven its ability to provide real driving pleasure, driving performance and long-term reliability.

The four-wheel drive is provided by the center differential a "AWD with LSD" viscous system. It combines a central differential bevel gear type, with the basic 50/50% front / rear torque distribution and a viscous coupling differential on limited slip. When a front wheel or the rear wheels slip, the viscous coupling raises the torque distribution to the other wheels for maximum traction.

For maximum driving safety Subaru Outback is equipped with Subaru's VDC system. This is an electronic stability control (ESC) program that closely monitors the behavior of the vehicle and automatically corrects understeer and oversteer by excessive braking individual wheels and / or reduce engine power and s ensure that the vehicle follow the course dictated by the driver for maximum security.

SPRINT RACING

After a strong tradition of "the beginning of the Subaru Dynamic Control Concept", the designers and to develop the chassis and the gearbox in the race for the Subaru Outback features many new components and updated. Their goal was to create a new Subaru was exceptionally comfortable and safe driving for long periods, and years of ownership, at the same time ensure good driveability, effective and genuine driving pleasure.

To reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and improved ride comfort, the engine mounting structure was completely revised for the first time since the 1000 model Subaru in 1966. A new "Bracket System" was adopted when the engine and transmission are mounted on a subframe - rather than directly on the hull. This system offers many advantages.

Subframe is attached to the body via rubber bushings, tuned to different frequencies to control the vibration created the engine, transmission and suspension. For example, the rubber used in the main type of liquid-filled bushes, and the engine is supported by four sub-frame points spread.

In addition, the front suspension and steering are mounted on the frame, so that the vibrations of the surface potential of the road can not be easily transferred to the hull or the car's occupants - improved comfort and refinement.

When they are combined with AWD transmission, the new Outback is 200 mm ground clearance allows the vehicle to fight against the rough terrain with ease.

New front and rear suspension

For the new Outback, Subaru has adopted a revised MacPherson strut front suspension with lower arm mounted on the frame for greater stability. The steering control is strengthened, and the quiet is increased by reducing vibration. The thickness of the stabilizer (anti-roll) bar increases, improved rolling resistance without requiring changes to spring rates. Handling in corners is better (thanks in part to a wider track), while ride comfort is maintained with good level of wheel travel and geometry optimized.

At the rear are new compact high court "double wishbone suspension is used to minimize intrusion into the cabin space or cargo. To sharpen up, all links to the suspension and the rear differential, installed on a new sub-frame. tall shrubs are used between the subframe and body to minimize the transmission of NVH.

To achieve a perfect balance between managing your time, new low-friction dampers are filled before. In the rear, the Subaru Outback is equipped with specially tuned shocks with an automatic suspension leveling system to ensure constant regardless of the payload.

Electric power steering improves fuel economy

To improve both the sensation of driving and fuel economy, a new steering rack and pinion with power assistance has been adopted. The system is mounted in the front part of the cradle at four points, which increases the rigidity of the operating system and increases its initial response to pilot inputs. Compared to the outgoing Outback is a quicker ratio, used for a more immediate response from management.

A new electronic parking brake and hill-hold function

All the disc brake system, ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) as standard, the atmosphere is a linear delay corresponds exactly to put pressure on the brake pedal. master cylinder renewed offers a fast response of 30% for the intervention of the driver on the brake pedal.

Brake Assist is also standard, a maximum power stops automatically when the system detects the application of emergency brakes.

Subaru Outback is an innovative electronic parking brake applied. Controlled by a dashboard-mounted switch, the new system eliminates the conventional brake lever, freeing interior space and allows a cleaner, a center console design less cluttered. If the doors are closed and the driver's seat belt is tight so that the parking brake is automatically released when the driver activates the accelerator.

The new braking system also introduces a "Hill-Hold 'if the vehicle is stopped on a slope of 5% or more of the function of keeping the vehicle on the brakes for one second after the driver removes his foot off the clutch -. Long enough to move the accelerator, without backing, a feature that is particularly helpful when towing.

Wheels & Tires

The standard wheel and tire combination on the Subaru Outback is an alloy wheel 17 inch with 225/60 R17 tires.

Building and Safety

Style and the "new look" larger and new suspension, the Outback has a new, completely revised and redesigned bodywork. The steel structure unit is revised for improved handling and refinement, while offering the highest level of performance of the collision. The new sister model Subaru Outback, Legacy again - with which it shares the chassis and body - was recently awarded a 5-star Euro NCAP, which confirms that structural engineers and safety of Subaru has achieved its objectives for this new model.

Newly developed body is both lighter and stiffer frames with reinforcing ring-shaped - "circular relationship" - to join the A, B, C and D pillars with members of the Cross at the roof and floor This creates a series of circular links. strongly protects the occupants of the cabin. Ultra-strength steel plate (980 MPa level) in key parts of the body to achieve strength without adding significantly to the total mass.

Fully exploiting the structural characteristics of the recently approved sub-frame mounting system in front of the body structure has been reformed to improve the rigidity of the front suspension and improved shock resistance and steering response. These improvements and the strengthening of the bulkhead of the engine compartment and areas skirting has been reached, and at the same time saving of 6 kg in front of the car.

The back of the floor structure is also optimized according to the new sub-frame and to reduce weight and increase rigidity, which improves the characteristics of the rear suspension and handling.

Provide an excellent crash safety protection

Use reinforcements advanced ring-shaped body through the Subaru Outback improves shock resistance and resistance to shocks from all directions. Additional support is the last sub-frame mounting system for a front crumple zone late expanded to further improve occupant protection.

Under a collision, it pushes the new front subframe is deformed in a controlled manner, and the power unit at the back and down. Accordingly, the movement later spread of such mass energy major impact and assist the efficient absorption of collision energy when the structure itself.

You can add protection against lateral impact, high-tensile steel plate (980 MPa level) used in the B-pillar structures and semi-rigidity threshold to improve the local area of the cabin. In addition, two-door impact beams must be placed in each front and rear doors. Optimal positioning of the beams in relation to the interior of the door, excited with sufficient space is guaranteed to minimize the intrusion. Furthermore, "catcher door was installed to prevent the bottom of the back door in the shape of the cabin - especially if rear impact.

Despite the relatively short rear overhang, the structure of the Subaru Outback has been optimized for rear impact energy is absorbed efficiently by controlled and gradual flattening of the rear subframe.

advances in security "passive" which also benefit pedestrians

Although a solid structure can form the basis for a really safe car, Subaru has also ensured that Subaru Outback wide with a full range of both "passive" and "active" devices - as the best way to prevent injury to the occupants to overcome the hazards of everyday driving and prevent accidents at first.

The new seats are much more rigid frames and the internal structures for protection against neck injuries without having to take "active" head restraints. New design, headrests, energy-absorbing offer greater protection by reducing the impact forces of the head.

Front airbags, side and curtain are fitted as standard. Side and curtain airbags are enlarged to improve the performance and impact airbag sensors were upgraded to improve response.

To protect the driver's knee airbag and steering wheel leg was restored, and the effects of absorption of space, and the knee protector is installed. All the pedals and driver's footrest is bent on (more than a predetermined g-force) to reduce the likelihood of injury to the legs.

The issue of pedestrian protection was also discussed. Again, the shock absorption material and an optimized structure in the front bumper has allowed the Outback again to turn the next generation of European standards for pedestrian protection, which are more stringent in the world.

Although steel is used for the hood (to maximize protection of vehicle occupants), the space of shock absorption under the hood and above the low boxer engine is enlarged, and the structure is more around the ball of the body to reduce possible damage to a pedestrian.

Exploit Allows Hackers to Reset PSN User Passwords

Attacks on Sony continue with exploit in PSN password reset page

The good news is PlayStation Network is still up and running. The bad news is that hackers have once again made Sony their target, exploiting a glitch in the PSN password reset web page that allowed them to reset other users' passwords and potentially hijack millions of accounts.

Sony confirmed this morning that it suspended signing in to PlayStation.com, Qriocity, and the PlayStation forums and it has taken down the PSN password reset web page as it investigates the issue.

According to various reports, the exploit allowed anyone to reset another PSN user's password by simply inputting their username and date of birth -- the very information that more than 77 million PSN users had stolen in April. It's unclear at this point how many users -- if any -- were impacted by the exploit.

Gaming site Nyleveia broke the news, reporting that: "Despite the methods currently employed to force a password change when you first reconnect to the PlayStation Network, your accounts still remain unsafe. A new hack is currently doing the rounds in dark corners of the Internet that allows the attacker the ability to change your password using only your account's email and date of birth. It has been proven to me through direct demonstration on a test account, so I am without any shadow of a doubt that this is real."

Eurogamer verified the exploit, and in response to the news, Sony announced via its Twitter account it suspended sign-ins and took down the PSN password reset page due to "essential maintenance."

Responding to questions about the exploit, Nyleveia started a Q&A in which it stated: "I would suggest that everyone, regardless of if they have been affected or not, create a new password and change their account email to one they do not use anywhere else, and will not be sharing with anyone else just for additional security."

Barcelona vs Manchester United: Champions League Final 2011

Barcelona vs Manchester United: Champions League Final 2011

Barcelona vs Manchester United. Manchester United vs Barcelona. The stage is set for Wembley Stadium to host the two best football clubs of the last decade as they go head to head on Saturday, 28 May 2011.

The records reel off the tongue effortlessly: Five league titles in seven years for Barcelona, four league titles in five years for Manchester United. The third Champions League final for Barcelona in six years, the third Champions League final for Manchester United in four years. The world’s greatest footballer vs the world’s greatest manager (and in the cases of Lionel Messi and Sir Alex Ferguson, the term ‘greatest’ is not used lightly). The most valuable club in world football against the football club with the highest wages. Two of the three highest earning football clubs. If you were ever to have a match to pit the two best football teams against each other, United v Barcelona would be it.

There was a sense of injustice last season for both sides – with Inter doing a number on Barcelona in the semi final and Bayern beating Manchester United by hustling both referee and opposition defence in the quarters. In an ideal world for both sets of fans they would have met for a second time in two years in last year’s final and this year would have marked an historic and unprecedented third consecutive final between the two sides.

As things stand, the score is 1-1 – Manchester United triumphed in their 2008 semifinal clash thanks to a hugely effective defensive performance and a well-taken Scholes goal. In 2009 Barcelona turned the tables by taking their chances early and then controlling the game and killing it off with a second goal. United were hardly at the races then, although they performed better in that game than Arsenal, Chelsea or Madrid have in recent seasons (purely in terms of possession (47%) and 11 attempts on goal (albeit 7 off target)).

In the last few Champions League seasons the team that has survived the tougher semi-final / has had a tougher route to the final has gone on to win. Manchester United overcame Barcelona in 2008 and duly held their nerve to win in Moscow, Barcelona beat Chelsea in extra time in 2009 and won the title, Inter toppled Barcelona in 2010 and duly won against Bayern in the final. Going by that logic Barcelona have done more in the semi-final, given the fractious nature of their games against Real Madrid.

But even without that, this year Barcelona are clear favourites, on the back of winning their third successive league title and the core of their team winning the World Cup with Spain last summer. Their only realistic rival in European club football in the last five years has been Manchester United, and given how Ferguson has overcome numerous challenges in the last decade in terms of teams, tactics and star-studded squads (outwitting Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City), Manchester United stand a good chance of upsetting the odds at Wembley.

We’ll be adding more to our Champions League final coverage in the coming days, looking at the squads, recent histories of the two clubs, more statistics than you can handle and extensive coverage on match day itself (including a live blog for those readers looking to follow the match online). Bookmark this page (and follow Soccerlens on Twitter and Facebook) so you can stay updated on all the latest United v Barcelona news.

Braga v Porto – 2011 Europa League Final

Braga v Porto – 2011 Europa League Final

Braga v Porto
Europa League Final
Dublin Arena
Wednesday 18 May 2011
Kickoff: 1945 BST

Portuguese duo Braga and Porto are set to take over Dublin in an all-Portuguese Europa League final on Wednesday night, with domestic champions Porto the clear favourites, as much for their dominant domestic performances as their free-scoring attacking performances in Europe and their young hotshot manager, Andre Villas-Boas.

Porto finished 38 points ahead of Braga (4th) in the Primeira Liga and go into the final as only the second Portuguese club to finish a league season unbeaten – after Benfica’s 1972-73 team. And with Porto playing Guimaraes in the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday, Villas-Boas could easily lead Porto to a remarkable treble in his first season at the club.

And yet this focus on Porto will suit Braga just fine, who have thrived in previous seasons on their underdog status. They have a tough task ahead of them having not beaten Porto in almost two seasons but as Braga have kept saying in the build-up to this game, it’s a one-off game where for 90 minutes, Braga are fully capable of springing a surprise.

Anything Braga do will invariably be predicated on stopping Porto from scoring – Porto have scored more than 130 goals this season, including 36 in the Europa League. Strikers Hulk and Radamel Falcao have contributed 63 of those goals, and they’ll be leading the line on Wednesday night. And if they can keep a clean sheet, their next challenge will be to find a goal, and looking at their performances in Europe this season it’s likely to come from a set-piece.

Braga Relying On Set-Pieces

Sporting Braga’s last four goals in the competition have all been scored from dead-ball situations.

Braga have scored only six goals in eight Europa League games this season but have nevertheless managed to make it to their first ever European final. Their last four strikes, all vital, have come from set-pieces (see table below), which means Porto will have to be wary of conceding any fouls or corners. Ex-Newcastle Utd midfielder Hugo Viana has been the most potent threat for Braga, with six attempts from set-pieces, but he has yet to find the net.

The downturn is that Braga have failed to score from open play in their last 594 minutes of play, a worrying stat for Domingo Paciencia’s men but which will prove irrelevant if they can manage to capitalise on their ability from dead balls.

Porto’s Falcao Makes European Football History

Falcao has surpassed Jurgen Klinsmann’s single season record in a European campaign.

The Colombian striker has netted an incredible 16 times in 13 games in the Europa League this season, a total which includes three hat-tricks. A flair player whose skill lies in being in the right position at the right time, he’s touched the ball more times than any other player in the opposition box (79).

Unsurprisingly, none of his 16 strikes have come from distance, all of them being scored from inside the penalty area. Comfortable with the ball in the air or at his feet, he’s scored six headed goals, seven with his right foot and three with his left. Half of his 16 strikes have also been scored from set-pieces, symbolic of his threat in any phase of play. Meanwhile, he is far more potent after the half-time break, which could prove timely given Braga’s expected defensive approach and the likelihood of Porto needing to secure the trophy late on.

This Summer’s Best Free Transfers

michael owen england

Is your club completely skint? Still waiting for your Arab oil sheikh to sink billions of his black gold profits into your first team? Just like the rest of us, you’ll probably we waiting a long time. As Manchester City fans are going to find out in the next few seasons, money can’t guarantee you long-term success. Just ask Real Madrid. It can, however, buy you the players you want.

Money is increasingly short in the modern game, meaning that clubs are becoming increasingly reliant on the free transfer market, and in turn their scouting network and their luck. At the same time, clubs are retaining fewer players than ever, meaning that there are countless players available on the market at any time for free.

Most of them will never amount to much, but there are some real gems out there for the shrewd manager. It’s certainly possible to assemble an entire team of free transfers. If you were giving it a go this summer and salary was no object, here’s what you might come up with.

Goalkeepers

Brad Friedel is coming to the end of his Aston Villa contract and, given the quality of his performances and of the clubs interested in him, it’s unlikely that he’ll be there next season. Even more pressing is the fact that he was declared bankrupt in January, after his US soccer academies got into financial trouble, meaning that he’s unlikely to turn down any lucrative move which is offered. A return to Liverpool is possible, although Arsenal and Spurs need a decent keeper too.

Defenders

Sol Campbell and William Gallas missed each other at Arsenal by a season, and having both captained the Gunners, now find themselves possibly without a club in the summer. Gallas is much more likely than Campbell to find work in the Premiership, having been excellent for Spurs whilst Campbell floundered at Newcastle, appearing just seven times in the league. Whilst we’ll probably see Gallas in the Premiership next year, the smart money is on Sol to call time on a glittering career.

Too late for: Phillipe Mexes (Roma to Milan)

Jose Bosingwa was a big-money signing for Phil Scolari at Chelsea, but after a bright start, his career has stalled on the treatment table. With Branislav Ivanovic making the right-back slot his own, the future looks bleak for the pacy attacking full-back, who initially drew comparisons with Daniel Alves for his marauding runs and long-range shooting.

The experienced John Paintsil is a popular figure at Craven Cottage, but Mark Hughes isn’t convinced. Perhaps his popularity stems more from his one-man laps on honour than from his performances, but there is no doubting that the Ghanaian offers buckets of experience both internationally and in the Premiership, and can be called upon to do a solid, if occasionally erratic, job.

Too late for: Taye Taiwo (Marseille to Milan)
Midfielders

Whilst Mark van Bommel has made it very clear that he wants to extend his six-month contract with Milan into next season and beyond, nothing has materialised as of yet, and this has alerted Tottenham, amongst others, of his potential availability. Tough and dirty, a loose cannon but a winner, van Bommel would literally strengthen any midfield in Europe. With Spurs unable to replicate their qualification for the Champions League, someone with van Bommel’s personality might be just what they need in their midfield (Editor’s Note: As of this morning Mark van Bommel has extended his stay at Milan till 2012).

David Vaughan was lost in the football wilderness just three years ago after a failed spell at Real Sociedad concluded with relegation, and he was snapped up by then-Championship strugglers Blackpool for the paltry sum of £200k. Over 100 league appearances later, and he is one win away from playing a key role in the most unlikely Premiership survival story of them all. Blackpool’s form is uncannily linked Vaughan’s fitness, falling off a cliff whenever he is unavailable, and there should be plenty of suitors this summer. He’s unlikely ever to be lost in the football wilderness again.

Also available: Andrea Pirlo, Patrick Vieira, David Jones, Mahammadou Diarra

Giles Barnes rolled of the consistent but modest Derby County Premiership production line, which also gave us the likes of Malcolm Christie, Chris Riggott, Danny Higginbotham, Rory Delap and, most notably, England midfielder Tom Huddlestone. A tricky and pacy winger, who can also offer thrust and penetration through the middle, his career has stalled significantly since picking up an injury shortly after Derby County last won promotion. If he can be kept off the treatment table and fulfil his potential, he could prove to be a very shrewd signing.

At the opposite end of his career, but with much greater pedigree, Valencia winger Vicente was once the most talked about youngster in Europe. Still only 29, he has also struggled with injury, but has also found time to make over 250 appearances for Valencia and win 38 caps for Spain. Cultured, tricky and with a great delivery, he could find a new lease of life in the Premiership next season.

Also available: Hasan Salihamidzic, Reto Ziegler, Lee Bowyer
Forwards

Michael Owen needs no introduction. 118 league goals for Liverpool, a prolific season in Real Madrid and then very little in six years with Newcastle and Manchester United. When he reached 35 goals for his country in 2005, he seemed destined to comfortably be England’s all time top scorer but has only managed five goals since, and none since 2008. Given his injury record it looks unlikely that he will be offered a new deal by Sir Alex Ferguson, but there’s no chance of him retiring whilst he still harbours international ambitions. Aston Villa could be ideal, as they’re in dire need of a player to partner Darren Bent.

Johan Elmander is a player who performs in spurts, scoring goal after goal for Bolton at the start of this season, before tailing off in the new year. He came to the Trotters attention after a similar spell for previous club Toulouse, where he would often go months without scoring, before suddenly coming to life. He seemed set for a move to Liverpool in the summer, before their moves for Suarez and Carroll seemingly closed the door on that. Powerful and direct, with deceptively good feet, he could prove an ideal target for Stoke, but will surely be aiming higher.

How to Pack Healthy Kids’ Lunches

How to Pack Healthy Kids Lunches

Packing lunches for school-age children is always a challenge for moms. After all, if you packed something obviously made of vegetables, you risk finding the lunch bag untouched when the child comes back, or worse, tossed in the trash without you finding out. Meanwhile, you really cannot imagine packing Pop-Tarts or other food you consider unhealthy. So how do you strike a balance while still making sure your kids get the nutrition they need? Here are some tips to help you get started:

1. Mix it up a bit. This means you are not limited to a single sandwich in which you stuff all your greens. You can pack a fruit-and-vegetable or potato-vegetable salad once in a while, since the dressing will cover up the veggies and the sweet taste of the fruit will also mask the bland vegetables. Alternatively, you can let them go with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but pack an extra apple on the side. One mother successfully added fruits to her son’s lunches by slipping in tart green apple into the PB&J. Yogurt is also healthy but still delicious, so you can enjoy filling your kids’ week with different flavors.

2. Jazz up your ensemble with interesting presentation. Sometimes, it is not really the healthy food that kids are against, but the boring look of anything considered healthy. One mom managed to use whole wheat instead of white bread but cut it up in fun shapes like stars and hearts. Another mom made little pinwheels with vegetables in the dressing but held together with a toothpick flag. Creativity will make the lunches you pack much more appealing, giving you power in influencing your kids to eat healthy.

3. If possible, pack them fresh fruit juice in a water bottle. This may at least keep them from buying soda everyday at school while not “punishing” them with tasteless plain water. You can buy oranges or lemons from the local market and squeeze them yourself, or if you have access to a juicer, pop a couple of apples in and you are ready to go.

4. Include a surprise somewhere in the lunch bag. This could be a post-in note stuck on the sandwich cover, or a small chocolate bar every once in while. This sends the message that you are not out to get them but indeed have their best interests at heart. Perhaps you can even bake your own potato chips once in a while to include in the kids’ lunch, so that when they want chips, at least they have the home-baked version instead of the greasy commercial ones sold in the cafeteria.

5. If possible, involve the kids in preparing their lunches once in a while. This allows you the chance to bond and to tell them what each food does while making it look presentable. Treat this as a special moment and be sure to steer clear or lecturing mode. Instead, let this time be a chance for your son or daughter to express his preferences. For example, you can make mini-pizzas together, and this special time means that you do not insist to put many onions if your child does not want them, but you can reach a compromise, or if possible, skip it altogether just this one time. You can still think up other ways of inserting onions into his food if you are really intent on it, such as burritos, tacos, or similar specialty food.

In the end, it will not be so much what you pack for them everyday that will ensure they eat nutritious food, but rather what you portray to them as you prepare their lunches. Your packed lunch will only serve as the foundation for the type of food they eat as well as their overall perception of lunch. If you avoid making every meal a battleground, they will wind up more relaxed, and therefore more teachable. This is why it is much more helpful to put effort into making their lunches look attractive to young eyes than threatening them with privilege losses if they do not finish their vegetables. Kids are tricky to handle, but parents can be wise and witty as well. Make use of every ounce of creativity in preparing their lunches, and you will certainly be rewarded in the long run.

How to Help Your Child Healthy Eating

How to Help Your Child Healthy Eating

Among the biggest problems faced by mothers and sharing is how to get their children to eat healthy foods, like vegetables. What makes it more difficult is the number of junk food or greasy fast food. For some reason, kids seem to have a natural love for anything green and leafy or fibrous, and, high fat high cholesterol is much more delicious items. It is no wonder why many meal times become a battle field stress, with doting parents withholding privileges or punishment in response to the refusal of children to complete vegetable.

But there must be an easier way to get kids to eat healthy foods minus night World War that happened around the dinner table. Some simple positive-reinforcement tips that do not prohibit anything but offer alternatives to help you ensure your child gets the nutrition he needs:

1. Set a good example. No one can underestimate the power of imitation. A child, no matter what age, instinctively want to imitate adults, even if he shows every sign wants to be independent. Typically, a child who sees his parents enjoy veggies will want to eat them more than a child's mother who is always forced him to eat without actually eating a lot of their own. Conversely, when he saw his parents enjoying healthy foods, she will end up quite curious to try it for yourself. If he spit out, do not despair. There are still other ways to get him to eat a healthy choice.

2. Find delicious ways to cook vegetables, such as cream soup or disguised in a sandwich. Many mothers swear by this strategy, cooked vegetables such as broccoli or squash in a creamy soup yummy. Some mothers even add color to remove the greenish hue that children are usually away. Another mother recommends mixing a sandwich filling, such as using green apples to add a tart for peanut butter sandwiches instead of using sugar-rich jelly.

3. Note the types of vegetables or vegetable-rich diet that he did not enjoy. Some kids like carrots dipped in different dips and sauces, while others like onions on pizza and those tacos. You can encourage them to eat more variety of foods to ensure they get enough vegetables. In a similar vein, do not be afraid to experiment. Some families who enjoy Chinese or other Asian cuisine may find their children enjoy the spring rolls. These reels usually come with crispy fried finely chopped vegetables inside, and you can easily learn how to cook them from the recipe on the internet, cooking magazines, or the cooking channel on TV.

4. Inventories in the fruit juice at home. This not only gives your child enough nutrients from the fruit, will also make him from drinking sugar-laden cola and soda. Also, encourage them from a young age to drink plenty of water. A child who used to drink water at every meal will most likely be satisfied with even without the sweet drinks.

5. Include wheat items on your shopping list. This can be in the form of muesli and cereal grain, not a natural sugar-coated cereals kids love. To sweeten the cereal, add a bit of fruit slices into the bowl of breakfast, or adding wheat germ on cereal for extra dose of fiber. Nuts and seeds can also easily replace the chip, because they offer the same chewy delight. If children are not too keen to switch, you can offer a closer alternative in the form of homemade popcorn. Babies Can Sleep Through the Night

Babies Can Sleep Through the Night

When a woman has a baby under one year, you certainly would expect the mother to see soaked, with a dark, evil eye bags under his eyes every day of the week. Sometimes he even may be very difficult to communicate with. This is because the baby will usually have several meals at night, and in the morning she still could not sleep enough because of all the tasks she needs to do. This is a complete recipe for a rough, moody mother, who would bite on a little encouragement from her husband sometimes-insensitive. This highlights how important sleep is for everyone, from babies to mature adults. After all, lack of sleep always makes people cranky, tired, and lazy, and sometimes can even cause serious damage to other organs in the body.

But there's good news! Recent studies have observed about how a baby can actually sleep for at least five hours a night live at the age of two months, and longer past that age. That means there is a possibility for new mothers to get a good nights sleep, and have enough energy to face the rest of his responsibilities during the day. And this is very important, because it needs precious energy to be able to provide the best for the baby itself and the whole family. After all, home run with his hands, and if their hands are tired, anyone can guess what will households in the country!

The first thing discussed in the study pediatricians' in sleeping infants is that they sleep better when they were on a routine during the day. With a routine, it means they have a relatively fixed pattern of feeding, play, and sleep. Instead of the normal way that the baby woke up, then play, then feed to sleep, they proposed a different routine in which the baby feeds at the moment you wake up, then spend some time awake, and sleep without a prop is needed. This pattern will produce babies that automatically stretch of sleep for five hours after the last cycle of feed, play, sleep comes to close by the end of the day.

A second principle is necessary for infants to develop a sleep pattern is the idea of a full meal. Full meal means that the baby nurse until he is full, not half falling asleep and then ask for more ten minutes later. The first principle of the cycle changed greatly facilitate this schedule, because the baby suckling at the first wake up, which means he will not stay up too fast. After all, babies tend to sleep so much time, and if he does not, the mother will end up waiting for the next cry of hunger, which can not be predicted. In this way, he gets a full belly and usually lasts one or two hours before needing another meal.

The latter and other important principles in the workplace why baby will not sleep through the night was that it was not given prop sleep during the day. Sleep prop is anything that helps the baby fall asleep. This can be rocking, patting, lullaby, or even a milk bottle or pacifier. What happens is that babies get used to falling asleep alone, so if by any chance she moves at night, she was perfectly able to fall back to sleep without waking the mother or father. This is different to a baby who gets up and then cried because he had rocked back to sleep or he loses his pacifier and can not find it. It's definitely good news for parents who would gladly appreciate the extra hours of sleep!

Once these principles are understood and developed in the infant schedule, the mother, and even fathers, we can be sure he himself will get adequate rest. happy baby's sleep pattern will automatically translate to a mother who is more relaxed with a sharp focus on the things he needs to reach that day, even leaving him with enough time to love her husband.

Tummy Aches in Children

Tummy Aches in Children

When a child complains of a stomach ache, the main fear of parents is: what if it’s appendicitis? Of course, appendicitis is indeed a rational fear, as there seems to be no known cause and it has been shown as a possibly fatal inflammation.

But before you worry yourself to death, understand that not all tummy aches can be appendicitis. There are in fact many other possible reasons why your kid is complaining of a tummy ache, some of which you can treat, while others are simply ones you have to wait out and prevent the next time. You can consider the following as other possible causes of the tummy ache that might be ailing your little one:

1. Gas is among the major causes of tummy aches, especially in kids who might gulp in too much air, usually from eating too fast. Experts have also noted that stress seems to result in gas, especially emotions like fear and anger. Once he gets to pass the gas, he should be fine. Children generally are not prescribed medication for passing gas, but if it becomes a common problem, consult your pediatrician. In any case, training your child to eat slowly and properly may help him avoid swallowing too much air as he eats.

2. Indigestion may also be a culprit. Since it may not be possible to cure the indigestion once it happens, knowing some ways to prevent it from happening again may spare you a lot of headaches in the future. You can help your child by improving his intake of probiotics over the next few weeks. Yogurt is a good source of the healthy bacteria that helps improve digestion. Fortunately yogurt now comes in many fruity flavors that little ones enjoy. You may also check if your child is chewing his food properly. If you notice him gobbling up his food too fast, it might cause him to have improper digestion. Stop him and ask him to slow down and chew properly. Food supplements containing zinc may help improve digestion too. Share your concerns with your pediatrician and ask for his recommendation of vitamins and dietary supplements for your child.

3. Another possible cause is full bowels. Has your child moved his bowels yet? Did it seem sufficient based on his regular routine? Perhaps you might notice that the last bowel movement he had was a little less compared to usual; this might indicate constipation. If you think he is constipated, give him plenty of fluids and try to increase his fiber constipation over the next few days. You can add more fruits or whole-grain items into his diet. Oatmeal is a good source of fiber, as well as whole-grain cereals that you can serve him for breakfast. During the time when he still hasn’t moved his bowels, you can refrain from giving him fried food. If the problem persists, consult your doctor. There are laxatives designed for children but they are usually prescribed and not over-the-counter. Helping your child develop healthy habits of regular bowel movement may help, too, as it assures you that his intestines are regularly cleared.

4. Sometimes, the pain may come from microorganisms in his tummy, and your doctor will be able to diagnose it properly. If the stomach ache is accompanied by loose bowels or diarrhea, your doctor will most likely require a stool exam. If ever diarrhea happens, just make sure to keep your child well-hydrated, and check that it does not continue for more than a day or two. Sometimes a child may have diarrhea for less than a day if he had eaten something that upset his stomach, but any longer than that should be referred to your doctor.

Technically, pain from appendicitis occurs on the lower right quadrant of the stomach. In any case, if your child’s tummy ache seems to persist or comes on and off a lot, it may be best to consult your doctor so he can check other possible causes of the pain. Anything that bothers you should be enough cause to bring it up with your doctor, and he will help you find the best way to deal with your child’s tummy ache.

Does Your Child Have G6PD Deficiency?

Does Your Child Have G6PD Deficiency

Newborn screening has helped doctors diagnose certain hereditary conditions in babies as early when the baby is a couple of weeks old, and one of the conditions that they can detect is a deficiency in G6PD. While other conditions are fatal, G6PD deficiency is easily managed, although there will be some nutritional considerations to take.

G6PD, or Glucose Phosphate Dehydrogenase, is an enzyme required to convert substances in the body into a reduced form, which keeps our red blood cells from getting damaged. As such, a child that lacks G6PD lacks this capacity to convert the given substance into a form that does not pose a risk of damage to the red blood cells. This means that a child with G6PD deficiency can get anemic as a result of the destroyed red blood cells. The condition is a rare hereditary condition that can affect people in different degrees from person-to-person.

If your baby’s newborn screening result shows him to have G6PD deficiency, there are ways you can care for him to take into account the condition:

1. You can help improve his resistance to infection by having regular immunization.

2. Certain antibiotic medications should be avoided, such as nalidixic acid, chloramphenicol, nitrofurantoin, or those from the sulfa group, such as cotrimoxazole. Anti-malaria medicines like primaquine, the anti-leprosy drug dapsone, and pain relievers like high-dose aspirin should also be avoided.

3. Legumes and beans, including soy-based products, are generally not recommended for children with G6PD, as it may cause anemia. Consult your doctor for his advice, but typically he would recommend you not to introduce these foods at an early age. When the child is older, he might advise you to try to introduce them a little at a time.

4. Natural foods are preferred especially for children with G6PD. Your pediatrician will normally give you a list of foods to avoid, such as legumes and beans, but other than that, most natural foods should be safe. Try to steer clear of processed foods as much as possible, as they typically make use of soy and legume additives, or bean paste as a thickener. Thankfully groceries now offer a wider selection of fresh foods, and you can also get your pick at the local organic market. Natural fruit juices, fresh milk, and cheese, not the processed cheese food, are good additions.

5. Processed foods that you should be wary about offering a G6PD-positive child include artificial butter flavor, canned meats, chips, low-fat cheeses or cheese substitutes, sauces like Worcestershire or sweet and sour sauce, margarine, candies, or baked goods. If ever, be sure to offer any food item in small doses at first to check for any allergic response.

6. Chinese food and other similar Oriental food should also be taken in a watchful manner, as they are typically cooked with soy-based sauces or bean pastes. Korean food is very much filled with bean pastes as well. Of course, the level of intensity of a child’s G6PD-deficiency varies from person-to-person, anyway, so it is still best to check your child’s ability to ingest them.

7. When your child constantly rejects the natural, unprocessed food you offer, don’t despair. Instead, try to introduce foods one at a time, so you know which ones to improve upon should he reject them. For rejected foods, you can re-introduce them with a varied taste and perhaps a new presentation. Perhaps you can puree meat and veggies and form them into balls or patties to make them more attractive. While these sorts of challenges may also be encountered by moms whose babies are not G6PD-positive, it is more crucial for you as you cannot just resort to processed food at the first sign of trouble.

In any case, your pediatrician can give you recommendations of how to improve your child’s fight against anemia with his deficiency of this enzyme.

Remember that little GT-P7510 project Samsung seems to have on the backburner? You know, the ultraslim Tegra 2 tablet that makes Honeycomb finally feel ready for public consumption? Yeah, well, that's gotten its pre-order papers now, courtesy of J&R. Bill Gates considers Skype 'a great purchase' for Microsoft, helped make it happen

Bill Gates

The aftermath of Microsoft's announcement that it'll buy Skype for $8.5 billion was filled with speculation about why the price was so high, who Microsoft was bidding against, and who inside Redmond was the driving force behind such a large expenditure. At least one of those queries has been demystified today, thanks to Bill Gates asserting himself as "a strong proponent at the board level for the deal being done." Microsoft's Chairman of the Board expressed his enthusiasm for gobbling up Skype in an interview with the BBC -- one which UK residents may see in full at the iPlayer link below -- and concluded that "it's a great purchase that a lot of innovation will come out of." Adding his support to Steve Ballmer's already public excitement about the Skype takeover, Bill stresses that "the importance of software is higher today than ever," while also predicting that video conferencing is set to become much better and bigger than we've yet seen. We've got our webcams at the ready, Bill!

Toshiba's tablet-ready, glasses-free 3D display debuts at SID 2011 (video)

Toshiba's tablet

The T-Mobile G-Slate may have a jump on the (red and cyan) 3D tablet market, but we can do better, and while strolling past Toshiba's SID 2011 setup, we may have found the slate of the future's killer component: an 8-inch, glasses-free 3D display. Tablet sized? Yes, indeed. We couldn't get a Toshiba representative to admit the depth perceptive display was destined for any upcoming devices, but we were told that the screen certainly "made sense" for a tablet device. The technology seems to be designed with a smaller form factor in mind, as the firm warned that larger versions of the screen, while possible, would suffer a drop in image quality. At 8-inches however, it looks mighty fine -- although you'll still need to look on from a centered sweet-spot to catch the 3D effect, a plague it shares with its glasses-free brethren. Check out our hands-on video (sans 3D, of course) after the break.

We are ramping production every week to address the supply concerns, including almost daily air shipments into North America. We expect the supply line to improve significantly over the coming weeks.

So there you have it: if you live on the North American continent, at least, you'll soon be able to find an elusive Transformer -- and just in time for a much-appreciated Android 3.1 update.

Caption my Freaky Photo Competition #5

I love this game!

I love writing captions and catch phrases for silly or freaky photos. I do it all the time subconsciously when I see blog update in my Google Reader with a picture.  If the picture is particularly weird and wonderful, I caption it before I open the blog post.  Thats just how I muthafuckin' roll.  Don't judge me, I'm sure you do shit much creepier and more bizarre than that.  (A certain someone I know would eat and digest someone else's scabs for $128.96).

I shit you not.

However, you guys are so much better at it than I am.

(Entries are judged on originality and the ability to make me cry actual tears of laughter)

So, Caption this Wotzit and win a wee somethin'.
